Year 3 Homework

Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. It will comprise of an English or a Maths task. A homework overview is inside both front covers so that you and your child can see which pages need to be completed.

Maths - will comprise of an arithmetic test of around 30 questions. It may take your child longer than the 30 minutes to complete - if this is the case, please do not worry! They may wish to stop after 30 minutes or continue with it and complete if they wish. The homework will be marked in class with the teacher. We are aware that some of the content of the tests might not have been taught yet. This is because these questions represent the expected standard by the end of Year 3.

English - will consist of spelling-related and vocabulary-building tasks. We will let you know the specific pages that need to be completed, but as with the Maths, please spend 30 minutes on it and then stop (unless your child wants to carry on and complete!). As much as possible, the English tasks will support and reinforce the words in the weekly spelling tests. Please do not complete other pages, just the ones set!

Home Reads/Spellings/Times Tables - as well as English or Maths homework, please listen to your child read at least '3' times a week (and sign their homework diary); 'little and often' has a huge impact on your child's reading. Also, please help them to learn their weekly spellings and times tables for the new Times Table Rockstars - their new Maths target.

Again, if you have any queries, please pop in and see us.

Many thanks,

Y3 Team
