Y4 Homework

Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. It will comprise of an English or a Maths task. A homework overview is inside both front covers so that you can see which pages need to be completed.

Maths - will consist of an arithmetic test consiting of around 30 questions. It may take your child longer than the recommended 30 minutes to complete - if this is the case, please do not worry! Your child can stop after 30 minutes or continue with it and complete if they wish. The homework will be marked in class with the teacher. We are aware that some of the content of these tests may not have been taught yet. This is because the content of these tests are the expected standard at the end of Year 4.

English - will consist of spelling-related and vocabulary-building tasks. We will let you know the pages which can be completed for homework but, as with the maths, please spend 30 minutes and stop when the time is up (unless you wish to continue). As much as possible, the English pages will support and reinforce the weekly spelling lists. Again, please do not complete any additional pages other than the ones set.

Home Reads/Spellings/Times Tables - alongside this English and Maths, please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week (and sign their homework diary); 'little and often' has a huge impact on a child's reading. Also, please help them to learn their weekly spellings and times tables for their new Times Table Rockstars (their new Maths target).

Again, if you have any questions, please pop in and see us.

Many thanks,

Y4 Team
