Year 6 Homework

Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and is due in on a Tuesday. It will comprise of an English or a maths task, each one on an alternate week. A homework overview has been inserted on the inside of the homework books so that you can see which pages need to be completed.

Maths - consists of one arithmetic test containing around 30 questions. This should be completed within the 30 minutes homework time; however, some questions might prove challenging and your child may take longer. This should be encouraged and you may wish to support your child in an area that they have struggled with rather than moving on to complete more questions. Equally, your child can stop after 30 minutes.

English - consists of  spelling-related and vocabulary-building tasks. We will let you know the pages which can be completed for homework but, as with the maths, please spend 30 minutes and stop when the time is up (unless you wish to continue). The English pages will generally link with the weekly spelling lists/tests. Please do not complete any pages other than the ones set.

Home Reads/Spellings/Times Tables - Alongside this English and Maths, please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week and sign their homework diary; help them to learn their weekly spellings and times tables for their Times Table Rockstars (new Maths target).

Again, if you have any questions, please pop in and see us.

Many thanks,

Y6 Team
